In February’s edition of The Hunt Monthly, we provide an exciting pre-season update as preparations ramp up ahead of our 2026 EFNL campaign. With strong numbers on the track and a playing list nearing 80, there is genuine momentum building both on and off the field as the group continues to gel.

PRE-SEASON UPDATE

Pre-season is well underway in the new year and there is genuine excitement in the air as we near our first practice game against Laurimar. As we have reached February, our training focus has quickly turned to game sense and structure work, with a big emphasis on match sim training and how we want to move the footy. The numbers on the track have been terrific and have ranged from 40 to 55 each session, which has been really pleasing. We have a number of players who haven’t played much footy in the past, who have jumped on board due to the opportunity on offer, who have improved out of sight since the first session. Our playing list has almost hit 80 which is an outstanding effort from all involved. The coaches are really happy with how things are progressing and the players have done a terrific job in gelling and bonding as a unit.

Some important dates for March:

March 14th – First practice game against Laurimar at Mernda (Away).

March 21st – The players will have a Saturday morning team bonding session at the club, where we will be announcing the senior and reserves leadership groups.

March 28th – Our second practice game against Watsonia (Away).

We will send out the specific details of the practice games when we have these locked away.

SEASON LAUNCH NIGHT ( Saturday March 28th, 6pm )

We are excited to invite all supporters, past players and players’ families to our 2026 Season Launch Night on Saturday March 28th at the Doncaster Sharks Clubrooms, Schramms Reserve, from 6pm onwards. It promises to be a fantastic night as we officially kick off the new season, with our players to be presented their brand new playing jumpers thanks to our new sponsor VICPROP. Our major sponsors will be in attendance, making it a great opportunity to connect with the people who support our club both on and off the field. Dinner will be available to purchase on the night and drinks will be available from the bar. Come along, reconnect with the Sharks community, and help us build the excitement as we launch into what promises to be a big season ahead!
