Season 2020 Update – COVID 19
A message to all players, coaching staff, sponsors, members and supporters. The following communication was received from the EFNL Board on Thursday 19th March 2020, regarding the upcoming season:
Following last night’s EFNL Board meeting the decision to suspend all club training, practice matches, usage of ground lighting and functions until further notice and delay the start of the season to the 2nd May 2020 was ratified by the Board.
The Board will meet again on Tuesday April 14th following a meeting of the Metropolitan CEO’s and the AFL at which time a further update will be provided on the season. Shortly after the League will organise meetings with Senior and Junior Clubs Presidents, via computer or phone hook up to discuss the season. We are committed to Football and Netball in season 2020 but we need to balance this with the health and safety of our community and the longer-term sustainability of our clubs. The social and financial implications of COVID-19 and its short term and longer-term impact on clubs and the broader community is something that must be addressed.
The League will be implementing a number of health and safety and cost reduction measures including closing the EFNL office from 2.30pm on Friday 20th March. Staff will be working from home and will continue to support and handle club queries as per normal via email and phone. We will reassess this position following the outcome of meetings on Tuesday April 14th and discussions with Club Presidents shortly thereafter.
These are unprecedented times for sport, businesses and the community. It’s more important than ever that we are united in our approach and focus on the longer-term goal.
The Doncaster Football Club supports the approach adopted by the EFNL and is working closely with all players and staff to ensure we adhere to the guidelines established by the EFNL, State and Federal Governments and Health Officials.
The Coaching Staff are working closely with all players to ensure their physical and mental well being is being managed to ensure we are ready to play when required.
The wellbeing of everyone involved in our Club is paramount in these trying times. Please ensure that you all take the recommended precautions and check that all those in the Shark community are looked after, especially those in the high-risk categories.
The Club looks forward to your ongoing support in these uncertain times and will keep you updated with news as it comes to hand.
